Go flying in a trophy truck, learn new 4WD skills and challenge your 4x4, and enjoy a weekend of on the limit off-road racing in style.
With Toyo Tires as the naming rights sponsor of this year’s Riverland Enduro, Toyo is offering South Australian 4x4 enthusiasts the opportunity to experience an unforgettable long weekend of off-road adventure.
The requirements: own an off-road capable 4x4 rolling on Toyo tyres. You may also need to let the boss know you can’t make it to work next Friday, because you’ll be going for a fang over the whoops in a trophy truck.
On Friday morning, participants will arrive at Loveday 4x4 Adventure Park. Loveday is situated on 3200 hectares of private land along 14 pristine kilometres of the iconic Murray River.
Waiting for them will be off-road racing royalty: Brad Gallard, Billy Geddes and Greg Gartner.
The boys will be 100 per cent race ready for the following day’s prologue and Sunday’s race, and the Team Toyo trophy trucks will be in full beast mode.
Race suit on, helmet on, quick sign of the cross and climb on in.
The Team Toyo and Loveday crew have been busy over the last few weeks prepping a custom track, and without giving too much away, the hot lap course has been designed to showcase every bit of horsepower, suspension and ability that Team Toyo has on tap. Getting airborne and sideways at speed are definitely on the agenda.
After all involved have been thoroughly terrified, it will be time to test out the Toyos and hit some hills.
Loveday incorporates two natural lakes and offers just about every condition desirable to the 4x4 enthusiast; stony hills, sandy mallee scrub, smooth flats, soft sand hills, creek beds and custom made obstacles.
4WD adventurer Greg Goding and professional marshals from Adelaide’s Driver Training Unit will lead and advise our intrepid team of Toyo enthusiasts around a purpose-built course that accommodates first time off-roaders but will also challenge experienced drivers, with a few opportunities to show off just how off-road the more ambitious 4WDs can get.
After an arduous day of 4x4-ing, club day participants are invited to kick back, swap 4x4 adventure stories, and spend their Friday night camping in Toyo’s VIP area at the Riverland Enduro track in Waikerie.
Before prologue starts on Saturday, racing teams will head out to do reconnaissance of the full 80km track. For the first time at Waikerie, Toyo club day participants will have the opportunity to take the 4x4 out alongside competitors and have a first-hand look at the track.
After the recce, the action kicks off. Trucks and buggies take to tearing up the tight prologue track to challenge the clock and earn their starting places for Sunday’s race. The afternoon will also see top tiered competitors challenge each other in the spectator’s favourite dash for cash, and top-ten shootout.
At the Riverland round, spectators are afforded more visibility of the race than in any other event on the calendar. With the 2014 event representing the triumphant return of the Riverland Enduro to the AORC calendar, off-road enthusiasts from all over the country will be treated to the best vantage points on offer in the series.
Toyo club day participants will enjoy the day from the VIP area on the start/finish line, with gourmet finger food provided by locals Salt and Pepper.
Sunday, is judgement day. Trophy trucks and buggies will line up, impatiently awaiting their turn to take to the Waikerie dirt in anger.
The results are uncertain, what is certain is howling V8s, wildly varying conditions, flying and crossed up trucks and the best match of suspension, horsepower and driver skill you will see in the southern hemisphere.
The Toyo Club Day and Toyo Tires Riverland Enduro will be an incredible long weekend of off-roading. Stay tuned for in-depth coverage from Team Toyo and register here if you would like to be a part of the experience.
