Team Mitsubishi Ralliart: Plugged in Performance

Team Mitsubishi Ralliart racing in 2014 Australasian Safari

Team Mitsubishi Ralliart Australia (TMR Australia) Outlander PHEV and Triton continue to perform well as they take the long, fast road to Kalbarri.

Leg three of the Australasian Safari saw an extremely tough navigational challenge for the competitors. Fast and sandy sections were littered with obstacles and local wildlife, after the teams encountering mine fields of unnavigable rocks through the second leg.

At the close of leg two, the Outlander PHEV was placed in 15th, with the Triton currently in 17th position, after covering extremely rocky, slow-speed river crossings and sand dunes.

Unrelenting, Outlander PHEV continued to make gains, finishing leg three in 13th position outright.

The course travelled through abandoned homestead properties on roads that have not been in regular use for more over 50 years.

Despite encountering what the team is calling Australia’s toughest roads, with each leg throwing up new surprises, the Toyo M55 continues to live up to its name as a ‘severe service’ tyre; Carrying on despite being the most exposed element on the car.

A reputation for toughness forged by the mining industry is being reinforced daily, as reports come back detailing unseeable and extremely destructive disused fences, large and sharp rocks and inconspicuous obstacles scattered throughout each leg.

The event moves to Exmouth today, where teams will tear through sandy creek beds and gorges against a picturesque countryside backdrop.
