The Toyo Tires Hot Tuner Challenge is where Australian tuners are measured: it’s where bench racing takes a seat and the real world numbers do the talking.
Hot Tuner is Motor magazine’s annual gathering of those who claim expertise in taking a vehicle from factory form and develop character and capacity with choice modifications, tweaks, replacements and updates.
At the hands of professional vehicle wranglers Warren Luff and the Motor testing team, each car is pushed to its limit across every discipline – spinning up the rollers on the dyno, sprinting to 100km/h, blazing a quarter-mile pass and frantically lapping Sydney Motorsport Park’s South Circuit.
It’s a recipe for smoky drifts, eye-watering speeds and organ-rearranging acceleration, and the 2015 field brought out some of the most thorough, and thoroughly insane, creations ever seen in Hot Tuner.
