Two-Time Baja 1000 Champion gets new Toyota Tundra TRD Pro Trophy Truck.
“Ballistic” BJ Baldwin: you might remember this member of Team Toyo from two Baja 1000 victories, or the Hoonigan backed #Recoil series of viral videos.
Renowned for living up to his nickname, BJ Baldwin is the proud pilot of a brand new race truck complete with Toyo Tires, and has also picked up a Toyota athlete sponsorship.
The truck looks… well, look at it! We can’t stop staring!
Trading in his long-time Chevrolet Silverado race trophy truck ‘Fedor’, the Tundra TRD Pro Trophy Truck is fitted with the toughest rubber rolling – Toyo Tires Open Country M/T-R.
Developed from Toyo’s off-the-shelf mud-terrain tyre, the Open Country M/T-R’s unique compound provides exceptional resistance to cutting and tearing. This, combined with the tyre’s tread design, offers competitors class-leading traction and durability.
A Las Vegas local, BJ was ecstatic to be a part of Toyota’s longstanding desert racing heritage.
“Joining the Toyota Racing family in an all-new Tundra really is an honour,” said Baldwin.
“As a kid I’d watch Toyota trucks dominate the field with one of my all-time heroes, Ivan ‘Ironman’ Stewart, behind the wheel. I’m looking forward to continuing the winning tradition and returning Toyota to the top of the winner’s circle!”
In a 20-year motorsport career BJ has racked up some epic wins, including five US national off-road racing titles, three SCORE International championships, one Baja 500 and two Baja 1000 first place finishes, and a class championship in the Dakar Rally.
