The spiritual mecca for Japanese auto tuning has always been Tokyo Auto Salon. Held in one of Japan’s largest convention centres, Makuhari Messe, the 2017 show was brimming with the latest and greatest from the most renowned Japanese tuning companies. Displaying a large spectrum of wares from body kits and gauges to suspension solutions and wheels, TAS was the place to be seen for any manufacturer in the aftermarket industry.
Toyo Tires were spotted on a great number of the amazing rides unveiled at this year’s Auto Salon. Friend of Toyo Tires, Alfa Rein, just happened to be in the country on his honeymoon and captured a few photos just for us. Enter the weird and wonderful world of Tokyo Auto Salon.
At the Toyo Tires stand, this Jaguar F-Pace sits pretty on big OZ Racing wheels, further increasing the F-Pace’s sporty demeanour.
The newly-updated Toyota 86 features revised styling of the front and rear bumpers and aero tuners AIMGAIN wasted no time appropriating their GT widebody kit to suit it. Big Work Meister wheels are shod with a fat set of Toyo Tires Proxes R888R to complete the theme.
This AIMGAIN-kitted GT-R also sits on Toyo Tires Proxes R888R at all corners, with air suspension allowing the car to tuck some seriously wide sizes underneath the wide-body guards.

Not to be outdone in the VIP-style arena, AIMGAIN also released new luxury sport kits for the current-gen Lexus LS460 and Mercedes-Benz S-Class, matching the large-diameter wheels on both cars with a set of low-profile Toyo Tires Proxes T1R tyres.
Luxury SUV seems to be a growingly popular platform for tuners with this Maserati Levante showing its stripes with big blister fenders and a set of Toyo Tires Proxes R1R all round.
Like something straight out of ‘I, Robot’, this Audi TT from XO Luxury features a unique wheel arch design that has to be seen to be believed.
There are Toyo Tires beneath, apparently.
Crowd favourite TRA-Kyoto debuted the long-awaited Pandem Kit for the BMW E30 platform. Bringing a new-styled touch to an old platform is something we see a lot of at Tokyo Auto Salon.
Chunky Toyo Tires Proxes R888 wrapped around the old-school mesh wheels sets the E30 off just right.
Speaking of old vs. new, an Old& New-kitted slant-nose Porsche was on display at the Spectra Chrome stand with a brilliant chrome livery. Can you guess what tyres it was on? (Hint: Toyo Tires!)
