Team Mirage Australia at ADAC Nurburgring 24-Hours

 

Mal Rose's car For the fourth time the Australian Mal Rose was off to Germany for the 35th ADAC Nürburgring 24hr on June 10th 2007. The world famous Nürburgring also known as "Green Hell". The track is the world longest racetrack, 20km long and 73 turns, its the ultimate track for race drivers and enthusiasts.

Mal brought two cars to compete in different classes. One team, lead my Mal, raced the 6 litre Holden Commodore in the SP8 class. They finished the entire 24 hours at 64th position and 5th in class.

Toyo Australia Limited and Toyo Tire Europe supplied the 285/680R18 RS1, a newly developed slick tyre to Team Mal Rose. Mal stated that the grip from the new slick was "unbelievable". Mal also stated, "I can stand the Holden on its nose at the tight corners allowing me to brake deeper into the corners and pull off some overtaking and that I would not be able to otherwise."

The other team competed in Mitsubishi Mirage and finished the race with 148th place and 9th in class SP2. Toyo supplied road legal tyres 205/50R15 Proxes R888.

Mal traveled all the way to the Nürburgring as he stated "The Nürburgring is my favorite track. The passion and intensity of this place draws me back every year. I just love this race."

The race was delayed for an hour and a half due to the horrific weather conditions. the torrential rain not long before the race was about to start. After waiting for the the conditions to be safe for the drivers the race commenced.

Mal stated that the tyres were "So good I was matching my qualifying times in the actual race". "We thank Toyo Tires for a great product and the big support for our team. The Toyo slick was magnificent. They lasted 7hr and 56 minutes on just one set! This equates to 41 laps"

Mal Rose Team will now commence preparation for the following races to come:

  • Malaysian 12hr race at the Sepang GP circuit in August
  • Toyo Tires Dubai 24hr race in UAE
  • and possibly the Tokachi 24hr race in Hokkaido Japan
